Broiler Health
Goal 1: Devise novel approaches for controlling necrotic enteritis and coccidiosis in broiler chickens.

Novel Feed Ingredients for Broiler Production
Goal 2: Identify novel alternative feed ingredients and probiotics to promote growth and enhance sustainability of broiler production.

Broiler Welfare
Goal 3: Develop strategies to promote bird welfare in intensive broiler production.

Broiler Meat Safety
Goal 4: Enhance broiler meat safety by controlling Salmonella and Campylobacter in chickens.

Mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance Dissemination in Broiler Production
Goal 5: Delineate the bacterial resistome in poultry production environment for developing strategies for reducing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) spread.
Team Expertise: Sid Thakur - molecular epidemiology with AMR experience in food animal production and whole-genome sequencing; Rocio Crespo and Luke Borst - poultry veterinary medicine.
Consumer Education
Goal 6: Conduct consumer outreach on sustainability and poultry meat from ABR broiler production.
Team Expertise: Anne Fanatico - sustainable agriculture and food systems; Chyi-Lyi (Kathleen) Liang - local and regional food systems; Anup Kollanoor Johny - poultry research and education; Chery Smith - community nutrition and education; Wayne Martin - outreach with local producers and consumers.
Industry and Stakeholder Outreach
Goal 7: Develop, communicate and evaluate a comprehensive outreach program to educate poultry farmers and other stakeholders, including 4-H youth on sustainable methods of ABR poultry production.

Recycling of Poultry Litter
Goal 9: Develop strategies for improved poultry litter recycling.
Team Expertise: Raghava Kommalapati - life-cycle impacts of power generation and biofuel production; Amanda Ashworth - management practices on manure management; Praveen Kolar - waste management technologies and converting agricultural wastes into nitrogen-doped carbons for energy applications.
Socio-economic-environmental Assessment
Goal 10: Assess the socio-economic-environmental impact of proposed interventions using a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis.
